Ever since he had been a young child, zombie-obsessed Chihiro Furuya has desired an undead girlfriend. Throughout his job, he sees that a wealthy girl named Rea Sanka crying to an old well daily about her oppressive life. Finally he succeeds with the support of the noxious hydrangea blossoms from Rea’s household garden. Unaware of this potion’s achievement and attempting to escape the remainder of her entire life, Rea beverages the resurrection potion, wrongly believing she will perish. Though it does not kill her, the effects linger and her departure from a deadly injury causes her to become reborn as a stunt. With assistance from Chihiro, Rea tries to adapt to her new–undead–lifestyle. For a boy looking for a zombie buddy, this scenario would look to be a fantasy come true. However, in Sankarea, Chihiro’s life becomes more stranger than normal as he copes with Rea’s peculiar brand new cravings and the unexpected consequences of her transformation.
