Mikiya Kokutou offers Shiki Ryougi a cat for him to keep an eye on while he is away. Shiki protests but he does leave the cat and Shiki has to try to understand her feline friend. As luck would have it the cat seemed to like Mikiya.Ririsu Miyazuki later visits the spot where her dear friend committed suicide. But she is not only planning to end her own life, but she also meets Fujino Asagami. Asagami is a blind classmate who has a traumatizing past. Although the two girls have very little in common, Asagami reminds Miyazuki about her friend who died and helps her to understand her pain.Mikiya decides to spend New Year’s Eve with Shiki, two months later. This upsets Azaka, his sister. She ends up spending the holiday with her school classmates. Mikiya contemplates what he wants most in life: for Shiki to live a happy, fulfilled life.
