The story is told through Akira the normal high school student who has Peter Parker-like problems. In the afternoon, out of nowhere Akira’s best buddy Ryo gives him an VR helmet (!) that has one of the video emergency transmissions from his father’s home in Antarctica. The truth is, Akira Sr. accidentally unleashed the demons in the course of conducting a scientific research project, and the entire staff at the lab was possessed. Akira and Ryo travel to Antarctica ( the Antarctica of course! ) in Antarctica, where Ryo discovers that he is an angel. Then, a huge demon sperm is possessed by Akira (!!! ), turning him into a large computer image (aka Devilman). In his vow to protect humanity Our horned hero goes on the “journey of the self” as he slays a host of monsters that are threatening the world.
