A string of unfortunate events has directed Makoto”Edamame” Edamura to embrace the life span of crime–pickpocketing and penalizing others to get a living. But after swindling a seemingly clueless tourist, Makoto finds that he had been the one fooled and, to make things worse, the authorities are now . Whilst making his getaway, he runs to the tourist once more, that turns out for a con man named Laurent Thierry, also ends up after him to Los Angeles. In an effort to guard his eponymous name of”Japan’s Greatest Swindler,” Makoto struggles his rival to ascertain the greater scammer. Accepting the contest, Laurent drops them off beyond a massive mansion and asserts that their goal is going to be the largest mafia boss in the West Coast. Jumping from town to city, Great Pretender follows the jobs of Makoto together with the adorable Laurent and his brilliant associates in the realm of international high-stakes fraud.
