The planet is in the middle of the industrial revolution when horrific creatures emerge out of a mysterious virus, ripping through the flesh of people to sate their endless desire. The only way to kill those beings, called”Kabane,” is by ruining their steel-coated hearts. But if bitten by one of those monsters, the sufferer is doomed to a fate worse than death, because the fallen increase once more to unite the ranks of the fellow undead. Just the most fortified of cultures have survived this insanity, as is true with the island of Hinomoto, in which humanity has produced a huge wall to protect themselves in the endless hordes of Kabane. The only way within these giant fortresses is through heavily-armored trains, that can be serviced and assembled by young guys like Ikoma. Little does he know, but that his opportunity will come much earlier than he anticipated…
