Back in 1950s Japan, Tatsuo Kusakabe relocates himself along with his two brothers, Satsuki and Mei, into the countryside to become nearer to their own mother, who’s hospitalized because of long-term illness. As the women develop familiar with rural lifestyle, Mei experiences a little, bunny-like monster in the yard daily. Chasing it in the woods, she discovers”Totoro”–a giant, mysterious forest soul whom she soon befriends. As long, Satsuki also meets Totoro, along with the 2 women suddenly find their lives full of magical experiences in character and fantastical creatures of the forests.
