Poco’s Udon World anime
Souta Tawara takes a break from Tokyo’s hustle and bustle to return home to Kagawa, where he is a resident. Although his parents have passed away, the memories of his childhood and his family’s udon restaurant are still fresh in his mind. Souta recalls his childhood and enters the udon place to find a young boy asleep.
Souta initially doesn’t think much of the chance encounter, and gives the boy food and clothing. To his surprise, however, the boy suddenly grows a pair of furry ears and a tail. Soon, Souta discovers that the boy named “Poko” is actually a rumored shapeshifting Tanuki who has lived in Kagawa for many decades. He decides to adopt the boy and give him the name Poko, thinking that he has been living in solitude.
Udon No Kuni no Kiniro Kemari focuses on the warm relationship between Souta, Poko and, through their time together, Souta reflects back on his past, the place that he left behind and the relationship he had in the city with his father.
