The angry scientist Rintarou Okabe rents out a room at an old building in Akihabara, where he indulges himself in his hobby of devising potential”future gadgets” with fellow lab members: Mayuri Shiina, his air-headed childhood buddy, also Hashida Itaru, a perverted hacker nicknamed”Daru.” The three pass time by tinkering with their promising contraption however, a system dubbed the”Phone Microwave,” which plays the odd purpose of morphing bananas into piles of green gel.
