The story takes place in set during the Ming Dynasty, the story is based on the love story with general Xu Ling Yi and the daughter of a concubine, Shi Yi Niang and begins with an unplanned marriage. Even though she was born into a lower class Shi Yi is incredibly determined and believes that women’s ambitions should not be restricted to her family. She is hoping to use her ability to embroider to gain liberty. But the once revered Luo family is now in an era of decline. In the hope of saving the family by means of a marriage alliance Shi Yi Niang is chosen to be the wife of Yongping Duke and the legendary general Xu Ling Yi. It was not an easy task for her because of the Xu family’s prejudices against her. However, she is able to gain the trust of her family members through her optimism and sincerity. Xu Ling Yi also becomes fascinated by her many wonderful qualities like the fact that husband and wife are able to fall in love after marriage. Because of the support of XuLing Yi Shi Yi Niang is able to open Xian Ling Pavillion to have her own workshop of embroidery. In the meantime, Xu Ling Yi experiences many challenges as he attempts to safeguard his homeland and improve the lives of the citizens by pleading for the lifting of the maritime ban. While they are facing an issue that could mean the end of their Xu family Xu Ling Yi along with Shi Yi Nang, continue help each other in all ways.
